Frequently Asked Questions
What information do I need before starting research?
Any information you already have can be helpful, such as names, approximate dates, locations, or copies of family documents. Even small details can sometimes lead to useful discoveries. To make it easy we can provide a questionnaire to help guide you.
How long does genealogy research take?
The time required depends on the complexity of the research and the availability of historical records. Some projects can be completed fairly quickly, while others may require more detailed investigation.
What records do you use for family history research?
Research typically involves examining historical sources such as census records, parish registers, civil registration records, and other archival materials available through genealogy databases and archives.
What if no information can be found about my ancestor?
Family history research depends on the survival of historical records. While every effort is made to locate relevant information, it is not always possible to find records for every ancestor. However, alternative sources are often explored wherever possible.
Will I receive a family tree?
Depending on the service chosen, you will receive a summary of the research findings and details of the records discovered. Where possible, a family tree showing the relationships identified during the research will also be included.
Can I request further research later?
Yes. Many clients return for additional research once new information is discovered. Family history research is often an ongoing process.
